now where was I..........
oh yea.
Politicians.
I have a video of it, during the bridge, it's incredibly awesome, cause it was set to zoom in at the time. Youtube won't let me upload it. will keep trying though.
the bridge was insanely awesome. ( I use 'awesome' too many times, mhmm, how about..........spiffy? no, just no.)
the guitars were hanging........Jon came down to the crowd, love the fact that he was so close to us, annoying( or should I say deathly) part was getting crushed.
I thought SF fans would be more civilized. geez.
he came down, the crowd was pulling him, Nat and May Lyn had to hang on to him for their LIVES because they were getting pushed back further and further.
so, Jon sang the rest of the bridge there. 'I AM BROKEN I AM BITTER!'
ohehmgee I touched him thumb!!!1111 lyke omgosh it was sooooooo freakin cool.
jk.
talking to him would've been even more awesome. B-)
the crowd wouldn't let Jon go, so he stayed there for quite a while. Chad started playing the drum beat for WAOT, before Tim went over to tell him that the next song is actually TIYL. :D funny chad.
There was one part, while the fangirls were screaming insanely while Jon was in the crowd, Jon said 'They're not letting go of me-hee-hee' (he was half laughing :D) because it was time for the next song, and well, they weren't letting go of him :)
After Tim started playing the bass line for TIYL, the fans finally let Jon go, so he went back and started singing This Is Your Life.
'Don't close your eyes, don't close your eyes, This is you LIFE'
the impact on LIFE on sweeeeeeet. 'Are you who you want to be?'. Jon sang it with so much meaning, all of us were asking ourselves the same question ' This is my life, am I who I want to be?'
LOVED it when we all sang after Jon, 'yea-eahhhhhh, yea-eahhhhhhhhh!' :D
and.................
guitar screaming.
thankyou Jon.
it was amazing.
even better than the pictures. ;)
I have to try that someday.
after TIYL was LONELY NATION.
oh yes, it's true.
They played my request. booyeah.
Couldn't help getting so excited when I heard Romey play the first few notes, clear sign of Lonely Nation.
it. was. incredible.
my favourite line has always been 'separate we are one, desperate we are young, I want more than my lonely nation'. to see it come to life in front of me was supa sweet.
Next up was We Are One Tonight.............
As Jon was introducing the song, he said:
I'm pretty much blown away......is it true that this is our first time here?
*crowd goes wild* *screams YEAHHHH!!*
So where have you guys been all our lives?
*crowd goes wild* *AGAIN*
*joel goes 'right here!!!!', others follow suit :P*
later.....
'So here's to unity inspite of the ocean of insanity between us.'
Oh it was so awesome live.
the part when Jon and the crowd all go 'We are one......................... we are one.........................we are one......................we are ONE!!!!'
CRUMBALIEVABLE.
Talk about unity. I like the fact that all 2000 of us in that hall all came together for one reason, our love of music and switchfoot.
and in the middle..............they played a bit of TSPTS.
I can't remember much, all I know is that I had a great time singing along, because I put the camera down so that I could fully enjoy the moment. It's my all-time favourite song, I'm glad they played it.
then it went back to WAOT. and the whole WE ARE ONE............WE ARE ONE part. twas awesome. Jon sang with the whole crowd. He really sang We Are One with all his heart. Chad was awesome on the drums. They all were.
I loved the big ending, and when the song was done Jon was clapping and smiling and looked REALLY tired, probably from all the running and jumping about. ( he never stayed still the whole time he was singing, amazing)
After all that, the lights were dimmed, Jon had his acoustic guitar with him.........
Jon: Apa khabar Malaysia? *smiling...........alot :)*
*crowd goes wilddddddd*
Jon: We're gonna play a campfire song. We'll just all pretend that we're sitting around a California campfire. You just got done surfing.....all of you. Now we're all just roasting marshmallows.......
*crazy girls scream*
*starts playing intro for Only Hope*
I bet Nat was grinning from ear to ear when she heard this. She love love loves Only Hope.
Jon played solo, the first verse, the chorus, then the bridge, and then the whole band came in for the chorus.
My favourite part that.
When the drums, bass, and electric guitars came in.
it.....was...........................um............beautiful!
ahhh. 2 nights and I only managed to cover less than half of the concert.
oh well.
will continue tomorrow. :)

Switchfoot Concert, KL, Malaysia. 02.02.08
02.02.08
I love typing that. :DDD
it's the only date that comes to my mind when someone mentions February.
anyway. after all those opening bands and stuff and what not and delay after delay.
oh yeah!! I saw Drew and a bit of the rest of the guys at the room 'up there', behind the glass taking a peak just before or just after one of the opening bands. ahahaha. that got me really excited. even more excited than when I saw Romey's back when they were doing soundcheck. hehe. *stalker*
ahem.
after the break, and the chanting of 'Switchfootswitchfootswitchfootswitchfoot, Suhwhichfoot...........suhwhichfoot..............suhwhichfoot'
(they went too fast so they decided to slow down abit after a while :D)
the lights dimmed...................
OMG, James was right, the rush of adrenalin that goes through you when Switchfoot comes on stage is amazinggggggggggggggggg.
I couldn't believe my eyes. the guys I've been watching through podcasts, youtube videos and pictures are right. in. front. of. me.
trying not to look at them through my camera, so I just held the camera above me head (which later resulted in really shaky videos and some parts not even showing Switchfoot,) and sang, or shouted, along. You just can't help but sing along to Switchfoot songs! they're just so, sing-along-able. Whether the songs are playing in your room, or on your mp3, or being played LIVE RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU...........you just can't help but sing along!
They started with a good rock riff, the Meant To Live intro, and the eager crowd sang along "Fumbling his confidence and wondering why the world has passed him byyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy" before realising they were not really playing the whole song. Jon shouted 'Mari kita rock sungguh-sungguh!' and the crowd went crazy, again, even more high-pitched screaming inserted, then they started playing............ OH!GRAVITY.
Oh my Gravity, it was AWESOME.
singing along to it felt so great, everyone was shouting, screaming and singing along to this happy clap rock tune...........
I loved it when the first line was sung.... 'There's a fracture, in the color bar, in the back seat, of the parked car, by the liquor store, where the streetlight, keep you company, till the next night!'
and when everyone went 'OH! GRAVITY, why can't WE!!! seem to KEEP IT TOGETHER???? SONS of my ENEMIES, WHY CAN'T WE? seem to KEEP IT TOGETHER'
the energy was INCREDIBLE. even the guy next to me, who apparently didn't really know the words, couldn't help mumbling along! not that good for the ears, but it was nice to see that NO ONE, and I mean NO ONE can NOT sing along to them live. impossible.
and when Jon left the singing to us during the bridge for a while, (actually I don't think that part was for us to sing,, anway :D) it was so nice to hear the whole crowd singing with just their guitars and stuff.
and when Jon held up his mic for us to sing.........of course he was singing along too, he never stopped although he wasn't singing to the mic. he was singing WITH us, not just FOR us.
:)
[will put video up soon]
oh and 'la-lalala-la-la-laaaa-lalala-la-la-lalalalala- let's keep it together.'
'We're Switchfoot from San Diego, California'. ah, so humble, like we didn't know that already. :)
after Oh! GRAVITY was Stars!!!
muting the chords first, with the crowd clapping along, then they went full on
da-da-da-dum-da---da-data-dum-di-da-da-da-da-da-DA-dadada.
I love that riff. *swoon*
twas so awesome live
fdsjkfldsjfkldslfdsk.
again, SO MUCH ENERGY.
at this point, the girls who were screaming pointlessly were still going. still going strong. sigh.
at the bridge, Jon held up the mic for us to sing too. :D
all while holding his guitar high up, WITH ONE HAND. lol, I don't think i can do that.
\the clearest picture I managed to take at the concert. During stars. Love the lights.
after Stars was POLITICIANS.
'I pledge alligience to the country without borders, without politicians'
my favourite line :D
that and COME ON AND BREAK ME.
the lights for this song were insaaaaane. :D loved it. the lights and the song. :)
[will upload video soon, :)]
it's late, I have to get more bass tabs, for learning to breathe especially, g'night peoples.
will continue review tomorrow. ;)

my pre-SWITCHFOOT concert review.
So after we got out tickets 'lasered', torn and uh checked, I ran into the hall (yes, I ran. oh I'm so immature. sue me. :D) and saw Andy who let me and mah gang (oh yeahhhh, we gangstas) stand next to and behind him. WHICH WAS RIGHT UP FRONT AND IN THE MIDDLE!!!!.
ahem.
so we got a good place in the moshpit, and before we knew it the rest of the hall was already filled.
waited for about 45 minutes, then the emcees came on and started wasting time by giving away flyfm goodies and what not. geez, delay a show will ya?
and the Gibson SG was snatched up.
then they started playing music (I can't remember was this before of after the emcees came on?) and when they played Muse's Time Is Running Out ( I have despised this song since a long time ago because it kept beating Switchfoot songs on UP2U, so I haven't really given it a chance, hehe) most of the crowd started singing along to it...................
then later Andy Barron and if I'm not mistaken Chris Beaty came out on the stage...........people started chanting Switchfoot, Switchfoot while they were busy setting up the gear and stuff so....
Then Love Me Butch came on. This was the first time I've seen a real band play live, with the lights and huge speakers and everything, and I wasn't really impressed. As I watched that band play I was wondering 'Is this what it's like to watch a band play live?'. I wasn't pumped, at all, while all the other girls were screaming. The thought of me having this same feeling when Switchfoot goes on stage was unthinkable. But it did come into my head.........so I got a bit worried.
The only thing nice about that band was the guitarist. He's a real pro. At least that's what I think.
The bassist only playing the same note most of the time while shaking his hair, ALOT, was disturbing.
The singer screaming and singing words which I didn't get, while jumping about weeeirdly was also disturbing.
Maybe it was just the songs.....idk.
I'm not bashing the band of anything.....the performance was....OK.
Let's just say it had ALOT of energy. So that's GOOD.
*gets rid of negative attitude*
correction: *TRIES to get rid of negative attitude*
that's their idea of rocking out. and I'm okay with it.
*cracks up*
kay, I'm done.
(note: sorry I'm being so critical. I don't like it either.)
Altered Frequency was okay. I WILL NOT BASH THEM. the end.
After what seemed to be 4 + 4 very long songs by the two AMAZING opening acts............................................................they took an incredibly long break. :D
okay, it wasn't that long.......and it didn't seem too long when I was there either. Hanging out at a rock show is fun! being able to connect with strangers who have the same interests as you was really cool.
anyway, that was my post-pre, pre-Switchfoot-coming-on-stage experience. :]
:] :] :] :] :) :) :) :] :) :] :) ;)
Love Me Butch.
I am an incredibly bad concert photographer. Why why why didn't I use flash?
Altered Frequency Guy.

I've delayed this for too long.....
one week after the concert and I still haven't blogged about it. too busy looking at my autographed LOC booklet. :D
The night before the concert I was supposed to be sleeping earlier, but I left packing to the last minute so....yeah. I'm a last minute person. I CONFESS. Like you people didn't know about it. so I went to bed at around 11pm. But I couldn't get to sleeeeeeep, ahhh. I couldn't clear the thoughts in my head, so I managed to sleep only at about 1 am. sheesh.
woke up at 5.30 am the next day. the day of the concert. wow.
Went to the bus station at around 6:45 am. Nat, Rehanna, Jeff and everybody were already there. Bus left at around 7 am. During that 5 hour bus trip I couldn't get a wink of sleep. not even once. Like Jeff said, 'Too busy thinking about Switchfooot'. :P
We reached KL at around 11.30. First time at a bus station in KL. In this case, it was the Pudu bus station.
one word. CROWDED.
Went to KFC, us girls weren't too keen on it but, whateverlah, Jeff pointed it out what. (excuse my manglish :))
The line at KFC was insanely long (not as long as the line for the concert, we found out later :D) so it took about 30 minutes to get our food. We needed to use the toilet, the one in KFC was closed. So we spent the next 30 minutes after eating, walking around KL looking for a toilet.
Then we found one, in the middle of this street. It was so high tech man! excuse us simple Penang-nites, I have never seen one like that before.
Went to LRT station at like uh.....1 pm? took LRT after LRT after LRT and finally we reached what's it called? I can't remember but we met Rehanna's aunt and brother there. We dumped our bags with her (hehe) and Joel took over Rehanna's mom's babysitting duty from there.
then we took the LRT, again. all the way back.......
and we reached KLCC.
oh yeah there was this one part while riding in the LRT this weird guy with long curly hair stood right in front of Nat, who was sitting down. ( can't explain it properly but, all I can tell ya is that it looked pretty weird.) The look on her face was priceless.
Still couldn't get to sleep on that long, long LRT ride.
Reached KLCC at around 1.45pm. Followed the signs until we reached Tower Records, where Jeff and Jonathan were at, didn't see them. BIG BIG temptation to go inside, I've never seen a record store that big.......but, must go to the concert first. and early. when we reached the venue there wasn't a line yet, so we hung out by the concert doors (or as close as we could, to the concert doors) and I managed to catch a glimpse of Jerome's back, a few times. haha.
So we could hear them soundchecking.........could hear Jon singing.... :D was so surreal. Then saw a line was forming already so we hurried to the line, we were already a few rows behind. sorta camped over there, sitting down and talking and stuff for about 5 hours.
Before lining up I met Andy, who was wearing a 'Switchfoot live in SINGAPORE' tee. I believe my first words to him were ' Oh My Gosh you have a Switchfoot t-shirt!'
later in the line I met Rachel and her bunch of friends. Talked to her, and some of her friends, I think....can't remember. geez, who knew my memory could be that bad.
At around 4:12. okay, it WAS 4.12. and there was this big LED or LCD or whatever it's called clock thing. HUGE clock thing on a TALL tower next to the building we were in, so, I didn't take out my camera cos I didn't want the security people to see it, (especially after they had already put up a couple of signs saying in big red letters that cameras are NOT allowed in the concert hallll...........bummer) so we used nat's camera phone i think, again....can't remember. anyway, random moment right there.
-----whoah I'm writing this whole LONG blog post and it isn't even about the concert. it's before the concert.-----
so at around 5:30 we noticed that the line had not only become longer but it became FATTER too. Caused by the inconsiderate Malaysians who so easily cut the line because we, the other malaysians are too polite to point it out to them.
so we ended up being wayyyy behind in the line.
and it started getting squishy, nobody was sitting anymore, occasionally me and may lyn squated down to ease our leg cramps, but it only got worse, partly because we were starring at people's butts when we squated down and also because, squating is not sitting. nuff said.
more later.....

Oh my goose!
I. just.talked.to.Switchfoot.
I can't believe it.
WOW
I tried calling flyfm the moment I heard the djs say they were in the studio...... before they even told us to call and stuff. So I wasn't really expecting them to pick up. AND THEY DID! I had no idea what to say I was like 'ahhh, ermmm, ummmm' geez.
And Tee Ming, was in the background screaming Ai Lyn is talking to Hitz.fm when it was actually flyfm. So Shell and Hafiz were like, 'It's flyfm! not hitz! lol!'.
what a nice start!
anyway, when I heard Jon's voice I was SPEECHLESS. I couldn't even say 'Hey, Jon!' in the coolness of ways.
They kept asking me whether I wanted to ask a question and of course, in my head I was thinking YEAHH, I have like a billion things I want to ask you guys!! (eg: to drew: What is Das?, or 'Are you a rapper?' I think it was about time the truth was unveiled to the world) I was like gasping for breath even the deejays and Switchfoot had to tell me to calm down and take a deep breath lol.
So the first thing that came to mind was 'Do you think Lonely Nation would've been a good single?' The deejays were like 'you really know the stuff!' and Jon (who answered most of the questions, with Tim) said yeah, he thought it would've made a good single. I said that's what most of us boardies were saying. so Jon was like ' You can tell that Sony is really regretting it now' lol. They even said I should go back with them to San Diego and pick songs and stuff lol, I don't think I'll be able to do as good a job as Tim Palmer or Steve Lillywhite. Cos the songs, on Oh!G are AWESOME. Must've been a tough job, picking from over 50 songs.
This is too much for me to type. Let's just hope I do get down to typing out everything later. I'm just too tired now. MUST. SAVE.ENERGY . FOR . CONCERT.
:D

EXCITED FOR A VERY SPECIAL REASON
I'm going to see Switchfoot!!!
Live!!!
In concert!!!!
and hopefully get to meet them too!!!!!
Thankyou GOD!
I was already diagnosed with the I'm-going-to-a-SF-concert when I first found out I was going. But the symptoms really started to show today, in school. I was JUMPY and DAYDREAMING. couldn't focus at all.
Dare You To Move from podcast 25 kept playing in my head. I could see Jon jumping right in front of me, I could see Drew winking at me, Tim smiling, Chad pulling that face that he always does when he's playing the drums, and Jerome being the awesome guy that he is. AHHHHHH
Pray that everything will go well,
pray that our bus won't crash or even worse, BREAK-DOWN. ;)
