Now that concert info is out I can't help but feel so excited!!! even though I may not be going. :(

Funeral of dream

So yesterday I found out that I'm not going to the Switchfoot concert. What a lovely Christmas present. not. So I'm extremely sad. Because my dad said I'll never be going to that concert unless its being held in Penang. The chances of that happening is never. Because if a certain foreign artist concert were to be held in Penang, that would be the first in history. So all I know now is that I'll never be going to a Switchfoot concert until I can drive there by myself. Which is probably in about 10 years time, and Romey will be hitting 50.

It's Christmas!

It's Christmas!! The birthday (well not the exact date) of our Lord Jesus Christ! but all I'm seeing in the newspapers and on TV are cheesy Santa Clauses.

Anyways, Christmas has always been my favourite holiday, doing the same thing every year. Dragging myself out of bed to go to morning Christmas service in church. Seeing my friends, eating lunch and of course, Ice KACANG!!! (though today Zara, Nat and I just shared one bowl of ICE(shavingsla). without the kacang. :D we never did like the beans.)

and there's the christmas message before eating.

I don't know why people always say one of the good things about Christmas is the presents. Coming from someone who (if lucky) gets one or two gifts a year. :D

and there's that thing about sending messages and greetings and saying merry Xmas instead of Merry Christmas. I always thought that the X stands for the cross cos if you tip it to the side it becomes a cross! like this: X, t . something like that anyway.^_^

but apparently not. so uh, don't do it! replace Christ with a X I mean.

So I watched Alvin and the Chipmunks today. NO, I don't find them annoying.

No confirmation yet, but uh, my dad's willing to take me to the Switchfoot concert. I haven't got a definite YES yet, but I'm still working on it.

my mom doesn't really know anything about this (maybe just maybe she heard me when I screamed, then shouted about the concert when I first read about it). I haven't asked her or told her yet because I'm afraid she'll say NO.
having no answer from her is better than getting no as an answer.

annnnnnnnnd, I have an appointment with my dad, like uh, NOW. I'm supposed to lecture him on the awesomeness and good influence that Switchfoot has on me ( part of my plan in getting a definite YES from him to go to that concert) and that they're not just all noise.

The Rant Post

I'm trying to contact Crossborders or any other malaysia concert/event management or organiser to book Switchfoot for their upcoming tour which apparently includes stops at Singapore(31st January 2007) and Jakarta. Mainly I'm trying to contact Crossborders because of the article I read in The Star online news, which quoted Wing Meng, the brainchild of Crossborders, saying:

“People don’t really know the indie scene and they don’t understand the indie culture. I approached one sponsor about the prospect of bringing down US rock band Switchfoot and they didn’t know who they were"

If they DON'T know about Switchfoot, then TELL them ABOUT SWITCHFOOT and have them listen to their songs, read their concert reviews and interviews.

On Sept 10th 2007, Switchfoot performed in Manila for the first time ever, where 20% of the profits went to the International Justice Mission ( that rescues sexually abused young girls). I read quite a few blogs where the blogger said they were not really fans of Switchfoot but they really enjoyed the the concert anyway. ( and since then they have become fans :D)

I recently read someone's comment on Switchfoot's myspace saying "WHY AREN'T YOU COMING TO MALAYSIA??? CAN'T YOU EVEN CROSS A DANG BRIDGEEE??? T-T".

that was extrememely RUDE.

FYI, Switchfoot does not book their own shows. Contact your local event/concert organiser and have them book Switchfoot. Which is what I'm trying to do, but unfortunately, I'm not succeeding. I am fully relying on God's help right now.

so my Dad said no, now it's up to my mom and the chances of her saying yes are 0.0001 percent.

I've been trying to contact Arianna Event Management and Crossborders but these people don't even have a site set up! please please please Arianna Teoh and what'syourname chief boss comando of Crossborders try bookin Switchfoot since they're already gonna be so near.

a pretty cool story I got from the boards

On Tuesday morning she was driving to work when her arm started to hurt. The pain got worse, so much so that she decided to drive to her husband's work instead, and asked him to take her to the hospital. When she got to the hospital they hooked her heart up to a machine that helped it keep pumping (i'm blanking on the actual name of these), and began to see what was wrong with her arm. Less than 20 minutes later, her heart completely failed, but she was ok because of the machine she was hooked up to. As it turned out, her arm pain had absolutely nothing to do with her heart, but if her arm hadn't started hurting, she would have still been out on the road driving when her heart failed.

Within a few days she was miraculously back to complete health, enough to take her daughter to the Switchfoot concert on Friday (this was the 11.16 concert in Bethlehem, PA). She enjoyed the show, but was the most blown away afterwards when she went to the merch table where she saw the shirt that said: "I want to know that my heart's still beating."

the first part was so amazing because it showed how God protects us by making certain things happen ( in this case making the lady's arm hurt so that she would go to the hospital). and the end bit showing how a switchfoot tee with a lyric on it can mean so much to a person.

I cannot believe this. oh wait, I can.

today I googled Switchfoot on web pages from Malaysia and there was only 1 and half pages of results. and i found an article which was apparently on The Star newspaper (but this is an online version).

"For tomorrow’s show, he has roped in sponsors such as jeans manufacturer Lee, who is supplying merchandise to give away, while 8TV and Channel V Amp will be recording the anniversary show.

“The one thing I can’t get from sponsors is money,” noted Wing Meng. “Money is very important because it helps me cover the basic expenses as well as pay the bands. And I’m not even asking for a lot. So I’m very grateful to The Laundry Bar which has been very supportive of Crossborders and provides a venue for local indie acts to perform.

“They even help me to pay bands at a Crossborders gig.”

Wing Meng, however, understands why sponsors are reluctant to offer cash to independent gig organisers.

“People don’t really know the indie scene and they don’t understand the indie culture. I approached one sponsor about the prospect of bringing down US rock band Switchfoot and they didn’t know who they were.

“I understand the business aspect of the sponsors but they hardly know anything about music, its genres and cultures. A lot of people just don’t know a whole lot about what’s happening in music.”

“There are less than a handful of places to play in the Klang Valley for indie bands. In the Philippines, there are places to play every night. When we were there, we played one club then we packed up, headed over to another club to play and then another ... all on the very same night.”

So this animation cd we bought from Bukit Jambul had a virus in it. so out of 5 cds 2 of them have viruses. this sucks. BAD.
I'm gonna have to be content with downloading free trials over the internet.
